Parker and Dru's 1st Swim Meet...

Over the weekend, Parker and Dru had their first swim meet.  It's their first time to swim competitively.  Both girls have been swimming at Nitro Swim School - Parker since the end of Kindergarten and she is now in 2nd grade - it's safe to say 2 years.  And, Dru maybe over a year - could even be a year and a half.  Who knows, my memory is shot!!  We originally put the girls in Nitro so they could learn to swim.  They passed the first phase of the swim lessons Nitro 1, and went to the 2nd phase Nitro 2 where they were taught the 4 competitive swim strokes.  They attended once a week, but never had the opportunity to utilize what they were learning.   By joining a swim team, I thought it would be a great opportunity for them to use what they learned at Nitro.

Anyway,  they started swimming  for the  Brushy Creek Marlins about three and a half weeks ago and had their first swim meet this past Saturday.  I just want to say I am  so PROUD of  Parker and Dru!  Both girls did such a great job, considering Parker had a cold, and a horrible cough. The environment was nothing like I had ever seen.  I could see how any kid could be somewhat intimidated - it was B-U-S-Y!  It was B-U-Z-Z-I-N-G!  It was full of energy, full of  excitement, and full of encouragement! Loud music, cheering crowds, smiling kids, it was an over all GREAT VIBE!  And, considering I had to wake the girls up 5am to be at the swim meet at 6am, Parker and Dru wanted to know when they could do it again!  I'd say they had a Great experience!!  Oh Yea we came in 1st Place!!  Whoo Hoo! Go Marlins!! hahahha!

About Me

” All my life I had been looking for something, and everywhere I turned someone tried to tell me what it was. I accepted their answers too, though they were often in contradiction and even self-contradictory. I was naive. I was looking for myself and asking everyone except myself questions which I, and only I, could answer. It took me a long time and much painful boomeranging of my expectations to achieve a realization everyone else appears to have been born with: that I am nobody but myself.” ~Ralph Ellison
